At his 4 month appointment the pediatrician said we could start him on some solid foods if we wanted. So we started with rice cereal and apples. He loved it! This past week we tried bananas in the rice cereal and he LOVED bananas! He looked like a little bird holding his mouth open waiting for me to feed him more!
Last week, he also rolled over for the first time. I had him on his stomach on the bed and he rolled over to his back. I put him back on his stomach and he did it again. But when Glenn got home from work, he wouldn't do it again. We have put up the pack and play and he has been sleeping in his crib a little bit. He always starts out in his crib. He usually wakes up sometime between 3 and 4. Some nights I can get him right back to sleep without feeding him. Sometimes I can feed him and he will go back to sleep. Sometimes I just can't get him back to sleep and I just put him in the bed with us. More often than not, he ends up sleeping in our bed. I know, I know, I know...he's going to be in our bed until he's 2 or 3. That's what everybody is telling me. But I need sleep too so that I can have energy to deal with 22 8 year olds each day. So if putting him in the bed with me means he goes back to sleep, then that's what I do.
Colin has also started sticking his tongue out and blowing bubbles. He does it on his own and sometimes if we do it to him, he will mimic us. He's also learned that it's fun to do it while he's eating his rice cereal too. We are loving each day with Colin. He is such a blessing.
When Josh was a newborn, my aunt (a LC & peds nurse in Raleigh) told me that when the parent of a patient asks if they should do something (co-sleep, baby wise, etc.) she would tell them "I'm not at your house at 4 AM and if whatever you're doing works for you, do it!" :) If Colin sleeps when you put him in bed with you and if you sleep when you put him in bed with you, do it! All those people who tell you that he'll be in bed with you until he's a toddler aren't at your house when he won't go back to sleep so ignore them! :)
ReplyDeleteColin is growing quickly! He's adorable. Keep up the good work!
